About KV Kapurthala Cantt, Chandigarh

Kendriya Vidyalaya Kapurthala Cantt. was established in 1986 and is being run under the aegis of the KVS. Its main aim was to cater the children of Defense personnel. The Vidayalya has proved itself to be the vital and indispensable organ of the organization. (KVS).
In the present scenario where Indian Culture and traditions are being constantly influenced by the west, the Vidyalaya tries to amalgamate both by instilling in the child a scientific temper and respect for his own cultural heritage and traditional values of life, a fusion that prepares him for facing the new challenges of the fast changing world.
The main objectives therefore are:
• To motivate the child for achieving excellence.
• To foster holistic development of the child.
• To channelise the energies of the students toward creative work and development of skills.
• To produce useful & virtuous human beings having self-confidence.
• To encourage students to be self-disciplined and systematic.

The genesis of the K.V. Kapurthala Cantt

Kapurthala which was formerly a princely state, is one of the smallest district of Punjab, both in terms of area and population. The economy of the district is still predominantly agricultural.
It is said that Kapurthala was founded in the 11th Century during the period of Mahmood Gaznvi. This town was established by Rana Kapoor of Rajput Gharana of Jaisalmer, established this town.On his name, the place has got its name- Kapurthala

Important milestones of growth

1986: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kapurthala Cantt has started in a temporary building in the old cantonment area of Kapurthala in 1986 to cater the education needs of the children of defence personnels. At that time the Vidyalaya was a 2 section school.
1991: The school was shifted to its own new building in new cantonment area of Kapurthala in 1999. The new building was inaugurated by the then Commissioner of KVS, New Delhi Mrs. Lizzi Jacob. It became a 3 – section school with its new building.
2000: +2 classes for Science & Commerce stream were started from the year 2000.
2005: Additional 4 class rooms / computer lab were constructed.
2007- 08: Additional 8 class rooms for primary section and 2 rooms for sports & games and music were constructed in year 2007 – 2008.
In the same year, 9 staff quarters (including Principal’s Quarter) were also constructed.
2013: School is having 3 section form 1st to XII.
